Privacy Policy

VisageLab (also distributed as AI Face Scan: VisageLab)

Effective date: May 6, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how VisageLab ("we," "us," or "the app") handles information when you use our mobile application. VisageLab provides optional AI-assisted scoring and wellness-style insights from a photo you choose. It is for entertainment and general wellness only, not medical or dermatological diagnosis.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the cloud analysis features or delete the app.

2. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the app, contact us at:

3. Information We Process

3.1 Photos and Face-Related Content

The app works with photos you select or capture on your device. A chosen image may show your face and other visible content in the frame (for example hair, clothing, or background). We do not ask you to provide a name or email address to use the core analysis feature.

We do not use your photo to identify you in the real world or to build a biometric template for recognizing you outside this app's scoring feature.

3.2 Analysis Results

We process scores, summary text, and tips generated from your photo so we can display them in the app and, where applicable, store them on your device with your scan history.

4. Face Data — Collection, Use, Sharing, and Retention

This section explains how VisageLab handles face data (photos or images containing a user's face).

4.1 What Face Data We Collect

When you use VisageLab, the app accesses a photo you select or capture that contains your face. This image may include facial features, skin appearance, and other visible characteristics in the frame.

4.2 Why We Collect Face Data

We collect face data solely to provide the app's core feature: AI-powered scoring and wellness-style insights about facial characteristics (such as symmetry, skin quality, and structure). This is for entertainment and general wellness purposes only, not for medical diagnosis, biometric identification, or facial recognition.

4.3 How We Use Face Data

We do not use face data for advertising, marketing to third parties, building biometric profiles, or identifying you in any context outside this app.

4.4 Face Data Storage on Your Device

4.5 Third Parties We Share Face Data With

When you agree to cloud analysis, your face image is transmitted to the following third parties:

The specific AI model used depends on availability; we primarily use Google Gemini models, with others as fallbacks.

4.6 Why We Share Face Data With Third Parties

We share your face image with these third parties solely to perform the AI analysis that generates your scores and tips. We do not share face data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the analysis you requested.

4.7 Third-Party Retention of Face Data

Based on the published privacy policies and data practices of our third-party providers:

Summary: Our third-party AI providers do not store your face data indefinitely. Data is processed transiently to generate analysis results and is not retained permanently or used to train AI models.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers directly:

4.8 Face Data Is Not Retained by VisageLab Servers

VisageLab does not operate backend servers that store your face data. Your photo is transmitted directly from your device to the third-party AI service, and results are returned directly to your device. We do not have a database of user face images.

5. Cloud AI Analysis (Third-Party Services)

When you start an analysis and agree in the app's disclosure screen, the app transmits:

to OpenRouter, Inc. at https://openrouter.ai (United States). Transmission uses HTTPS encryption.

OpenRouter routes this request to a third-party AI vision model (such as Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT, or Alibaba Qwen, depending on availability). Those providers process the request on their infrastructure under their terms and privacy policies (see Section 4.7 for details on their retention practices).

We use this processing only to produce the results shown in VisageLab (scores, summary, tips). We do not sell your photos or face data.

5.1 Your Permission

We do not send your photo for cloud analysis until you:

  1. Review the in-app explanation of what data is sent and who receives it, and
  2. Explicitly tap to agree.

You may withdraw permission at any time in the app (from Profile → "Withdraw cloud AI permission"). If you withdraw, we will ask for your consent again before any future cloud analysis.

6. Local Storage on Your Device

The app may store your scan photos (containing your face), scores, and related text locally on your device so you can view history and progress. That data stays on the device unless you delete the app, delete items inside the app where supported, or your device backup copies app data according to your settings (for example iCloud backup).

7. Subscriptions and Purchases

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat as a subscription helper to validate entitlements and unlock Premium features. RevenueCat processes purchase-related identifiers and subscription status as described in its services; it is not used to upload your face photos for AI analysis.

8. Analytics, Advertising, and Sale of Data

VisageLab is not designed to show third-party advertising in exchange for your photo data. We do not sell your photos or face data. If we introduce optional analytics or materially new data practices in the future, we will update this policy and the effective date.

9. Children's Privacy

VisageLab is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have processed information in a way that violates applicable law, contact us using the email above.

10. International Users

If you use the app from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries where OpenRouter or AI model providers operate.

11. Data Retention Summary

We do not retain face data on VisageLab servers because we do not operate servers that store user content.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top. Please review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy, unless applicable law requires a different process.
